Eagle Scout candidate Jacob Lightsey is planning to conduct his service project on two Saturdays on April 4 and 11 (from 8AM to Noon). He has asked for members of our SAR Chapter to assist if possible. The project is to construct a handicap accessible ramp from the street across the drainage ditch and up to the cemetery. The Herring-Cox Cemetery is the grave location of William Herring who was a patriot in the Revolutionary War, serving in Virginia. He moved later in life to Clarke County where he died and was buried in 1812. There is a Veterans Administration headstone marking his grave. 

The location of the cemetery is off Orchard Circle. To get there take a right off of Lexington Road (across from the eastside Walmart) onto Whit Davis Road. Orchard Circle is a mile or so down Whit Davis on the left.
